The variable is the part, not the labour: panels, batteries and drives differ enormously between manufacturers and models, which is why we confirm your exact model first rather than quoting a range that turns out to be wrong.

Is it worth replacing a cracked laptop screen?

On a decent machine, almost always — a panel is a fraction of what a comparable replacement laptop costs. On a cheap laptop that is also slowing down and out of warranty, sometimes not, and we will say so. We source the correct panel for your exact model, fit it on-site where we can, and warranty it for 90 days.

Will I lose my files during a laptop repair?

Screens, batteries, keyboards and ports are all separate from your storage, so those repairs leave your files exactly where they are. The exception is a failing hard drive or SSD, where the data is the whole problem — in that case we stop, explain what we are looking at, and agree a recovery approach with you before touching it.

Do you repair laptops at my home or take them away?

The laptop screen is cracked or has spreading black ink

What it usually turns out to be

Physical damage to the panel — usually from a knock to the lid, something left on the keyboard when it was closed, or a drop. The spreading black blot is liquid crystal leaking out, and it will keep spreading. The panel is a separate part from everything else, so nothing else in the machine is affected.
